Re: no start when hot 700 1988

Ron:

I have a couple of questions regarding your hot start problem. If you would please take a moment to answer these questions I might be able to provide a little insight into your problem. I am chasing down a similar gremlin in my 92 745. This problem seems to be fairly common to certain Volvos, yet I have been unable to identify a clear cut solution.

1. Is your motor the b230f or b230ft(turbo).

2. How many miles on the car\engine.

3. When you turn the motor off hot, does it start with just turning the key or do you have to press the accelerator to get it to start?

4. After starting the motor, will it idle normally without your foot on the gas pedal or will it die?

5. Do you have to give the motor a little gas for a few seconds to a few minutes before it will idle normally?

6. Have you or a mechanic done anything to the car\engine to try and corrcet this problem?

Your help would be greatly appreciated and I will get back to you promplty with some ideas on what might be causing this quirk in your brick.
