Re: fuel delivery issues/tank problems? 200 83

/// What was the condition of the tank when you were working in it? If there was rust the system is clogged all the way to the filter. That tank does not have a reserve compartment. There is a cup spot welded to the tank bottom to hold fuel around the pump as it runs low.

The fuel gauge is not linear and half a tank may not be accurately a half tank. You have about 2.5 gallons when the needle gets to the red reserve mark.

A repair of the tank can be done at radiator shops that offer the service. They coat the inside with a polyester sealer. It will serve no purpose if the tank is heavily pitted and has pin holes. Replace the whole tank.

If you do that buy a slightly longer bolt for the fitting on the fuel input tube. The old one doesn't want to reach after you spread the "V" channel clamp removing it. It reassembles much easier if you have about 1/2 inch extra bolt and thread.
