Sedan or Wagon? Huge difference in solutions! 700 1987

Guys,

If it is a wagon, the rear axel is the same as a 740 because the earlier Multilink-I wouldn't fit in a wagon. Hence 740 springs and shocks are a viable alternative. (Although the self leveling feature is more useful in a wagon so why switch?)

If it is a sedan, the availability of suitable springs and the difficulty of putting them in the Multilink is a major obstical. I don't remember of anyone ever posting about finding springs. I used a set of Air-Lifts inside the stock springs once but it was a pain to keep adjusting the pressure to match the load. The Nivomats seem to be long lived so why not just replace them at the best price you can find?

(With the advent of the Multilink II system in '95 for the 960's featuring a transverse composite leaf spring it was compact enough to fit in the wagons also. So all 960's have Multilink but the characteristics of the composite spring must have minimized the need for the Nivomats because many 960's don't have the Nivomats. Chassis code "Y".)
