Dawes Devices&Autometer mods to 1990 760 Turbo 700 1990

I had the DawesDevices Superduty Boost Controller installed by a friend and have used it for a few months now to my satisfaction. Last weekend my friend installed an Autometer mechanical boost/vac gauge which works fine. However, there are some mysterious problems that have happened a couple of times since the gauge was installed. First of all, after we installed the gauge, the car would not accelerate past 5-10 mph. We thought it was the computer not adjusting after we left a leak in the hose going to the gauge. So, we stopped up that hose and that didn't help. We then tried to reset the computer by pulling a couple of fuses and turning the key. We put back the fuses and the car ran fine. Then today I tried to go from 0-60 and the car was bucking. This happened in three consecutive attempts. I had to avoid giving it more than 5 psi boost or it would buck. Then after driving a couple of miles I tried it again and it ran fine with 10+ psi. I continued giving it more and more boost without any problem. What could be the problem? Could it be the installation of the boost gauge or just a coincidence like water in the gas or some other engine component going bad? Any thoughts? PS-I'm glad I finally installed a calibrated boost gauge. We power-braked the car and found out it was doing over 16 psi. Another question: since I had the boost controller set this high for like 4 months, how would I know now if there has been any damage? -Replies are much appreciated!...
