B28F V-6 MILEAGE 200 1980

I have just aquired a 1980 Bertone with the v6 and 3 spd auto. my first full tank of gas seems to have netted 14.5 mpg. I do about 65 percent fwy driving at about 65 mph. This seems very low, even for the v6. Does anyone out there have similar experiences with the mileage. Maybe I need to change the spark plugs and distributor. I welcome input from anyone with a suggestion other than a ford 5.0 or b21 ft solution. thanks.
