Ignition switch 200 86

Hello people,

Has anyone done this recently? What position does the key have to be in during removal of old and installation of new? Seems to be a relatively easy job.Accessory quirkiness suggests this is the problem:Windows won`t work, temp and gas gauges work most of the time, bulb out light stays on,etc.Bought switch from a dealer. When I put it in,all the car would do was crank over hard but not start.Took it back thinking it was defective and couldn`t get credit.Put old switch back in the next day and it started right up.Posted a note and one suggestion was to change the battery cables, which I`ve done.I keep thinking I`m missing something. What do you think? Thanks for you help.
