My recollection is that the axle number is 1041. Not sure what you look for. As I understand, these did not come out until 1992. Before that, the option was a standard LSD. Rarely fitted to Turbo models (not recommended by Volvo). But occasionally, since it was a dealer option rather than a factory only part.

Auto locking rears contain a torque overload protection device. Apply too much torque and it breaks and the rear becomes a standard open rear. Not sure what the overload level is. I am sure it can handle at least a Turbo Plus and probably much more.

You can also buy a Powertrax auto locking rear for about $400, and have it installed for about $250 more.
