Replacing Newer Speedo with Older Speedo 200 1992

The speedo in my '92 240 has a bad odometer, and I want to replace it with a speedo from an older (86) 240.

However the '92 unit has what looks like a switch to turn off the "Service" Light, and the older one doesn't.

If these speedos will interchange, I figure I'll remove the Service Light switch, put the old one in, and pull the Service Light bulb.

Does this sound feasible?
