Wipers park or not? 140-160 1974

Hey all,

On my '74 164E, the windshield wipers just stop wherever they happen to be when you turn the switch off. They do not return to the parked position automatically. I don't feel like this is normal since a VW Beetle from the same era had self-parking wipers :-)

First, is this normal for the Volvo? If not, how does one go about fixing this particular problem? :-)
