Re: changing injectors 200 1984

I second the General and I will also share with you my recent experience. My 760 turbo (1986) ran rough and when I pulled the spark plugs, even new ones put in a few day before, they were sooty with the threads covered with what looked like dirty oit or burnt sugar with a strong smell of gas. Mileage was poor. It looked like the car was running very rich. Read many times 700/900 FAQ on theis website. I changed the engine wiring harness and that improved but did not entirely fix things. I checked injectors, moved them around and the "burnt sugar" moved with injectors. This made me think I had leaking injectors. I trired to clean them without success so I changed them. Big improvement. Now spark plugs came out with only a trace of black around the rim and pristine electrodes. Cheched coolant temperature sensor and it came up bad. So I changed it. Of course, I have foled around also with AMM and oxygen sensor. I have also gone over all wiring and vacuum hoses. Now the car runs like new. If you post symptoms and diagnosis perhaps I can help you a bit more. If you have more time than money, the General call tel you how to make an engine wire harness to put Volvo to shame. Otherwise, I can tell you where to buy for $250 and how to put in the car yourself in less than one hour. If it comes to that, I think I can tell you where to have your injectors cleaned ($25 each) or buy new ones ($65 each). I can also help you with installation tips I learned the hard way. Ditto for coolant temperature sensor ($17).
