How to remove 52mm gauge glass faces? 200 81

I'm wondering if anyone knows how to remove the glass faces of Volvo 52mm gauges (like the ones in the Turbo and R-Sport clusters). Do they just unscrew? I've tried that but I can't get any off so far, don't want to put much more force on them until I know how they're supposed to come off.

I recently was given a 74 R-Sport cluster for my 242 and I want to clean up the glass and repaint the scratched black rings that hold the glass in before I try to put it in the car.
