On A Roll.... Fixing Wrinkled Upholstery 900 ALL

Get your bulletproof, homemade harnesses to the left, and over here, the Benevolent General will fix that wrinkled, pulled out, nasty shrunken upholstery.

Next stop DOOR PANELS! The "unfixable" ones.

Well, my door panels were all replaced with new ones as a condition of sale when I bought this pig.

My wife's door panels are pulling apart now too.

But my 'B Pillar' cover in the 960 was REALLY annoying me. Everytime I'd look over the left shoulder for a lane change. That nasty bit of ugly would cath my eye.

The fabric had all wrinkled and pulled away, exposed the thin, darkened foam beneath.

I took it off by pulling the seat all the way forward. Popped out the upper and lower clip/covers. to expose 2 Torx25 screws that came right out.

Next, pop out the seat belt bezel and crank that sucker out of it's 4 spring clips.... "Pop-Pop, Pop-Pop" out. Lots of dust in there. So is the Pyrotechnic tensioner too so be careful.

On a bench the fabric and backing foam pulled right off, about 6 inches worth, with little persuasion. Beneath was a molded black plastic substrate, with a pebbled texture that looked decidedly 240'ish.

I used 3M, aerosol dispensed, #90 High Strength Adhesive. Use caution. Set the nozzle to low. and spray from a distance of 10 inches or so. Do not saturate the foam, or it will soak in and look lumpy when you are done. Just a nice, even, light coating.

Let it dry a few minutes BEFORE laying the fabric down.

Then, gently stretch the fabric taut and relieve all the wrinkles and puckering, then lay it right down onto the doped plastic.

Put it back together and it's as good as new.

I promise you. It can be done on door panels!!
