Clutch replace: IS IT NEEDED? 700 91

My throwout bearing is shot. The clutch squeels like a bitch. I want to replace the clutch, just for the fact that I can't stand the high pitched squeal all day. I have sidelined the car (kind of, I drive it to and from work and thats it). I'm worried about doing damage to the tranny somehow w/ a burnt out throwout bearing. Am I over reacting?

When I do replace it, I need a clutch alignment tool. Do I need to buy it from volvo, or is it available for the m46 from auto parts stores?

Thanks all.
