To cut or not to cut....tis the question 760T 700 84

My tape player in my original am/fm unit has gone inop...I have a brand new Kenwood tape/cd receiver to install as replacement. I removed the unit from dash only to discover the DIN like cords in the back of the radio. I refuse to cut them in order to splice in the new connections, but what is the typical scenario for the replacement of the radio, with an after-market unit? Does the entire lower dash have to be removed in order to access the speaker leads for splicing etc???? Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks
