my '75 was made in Gent Belgium?? 200 1975

I noticed at the junkyard that every Volvo there (at least 2 dozen) that I noticed was made in Sweden. my '75 245 DL was made in Gent Belgium according to the plate on the strut tower. what's up with that? it was bought new off the lot in York, PA. wasn't a special order, wasn't built for overseas or anything... maybe just a coincidence. anyone shed some light on this to someone new in the Volvo life?
