Should I stay or should I go? 200 1993

My beloved 85 245 GL is showing its age. Of course, they all do. Lovely wife loves the utility and size and driveability of the 240 wagon. Should I pour $1500 dollars into this 207k mile old car, or should I search for the newest possible 1993 240 wagon? I've searched www.autotrader.com and found the price ranges from $14k to $7k. Seems like the newer car would get you quite a few upgrades (ie R134a).

Here's what I'm thinking I'll need on the old grey ghost in the next 15k miles.

1. Steering rack (complete with tie rods)

2. New seat cushion supports

3. ipd flame trap upgrade

4. Motor and tranny mounts

5. Cam belt and seals

6. Brakes

7. Tailgate wiring harnesses

8. Wiper relays

9. Dash clock

10. Upper strut bearing mounts

11. Airbox thermostat

12. Radiator coolant

13. Brake fluid flush

14. Radio speakers

15. Rust repair (rear tailgate, door bottoms)

Of course the car has ipd 3-row radiator, ipd sway bars, chassis reinforcement bars, new rear suspension bushings (poly), replaced wiring harness, etc. It's been well taken care of, and I can document every dollar spent since day one!

It's no question that the dollars would be less with repair, but is it wise? What non-monetary value is a 'new 1993' for the wife and kids?
