While the 93 and later B230FTs have the piston oil cooling, the 13 mm connecting rods were introduced early in the 89 modle year. The large main bearing crankshaft was introduced in the 1988 modle year as a running change. All B230s with the large main bearings are K blocks. The identifying cast K under the serial number was deleted at about the time the 13 mm connecting rods were introduced, but the engines still have a K on the part number tag on the timing belt cover.
