Hard Shifting!! :-( 200 86

Just bought an '86 240DL. Used with 170k. The previous owner babied it, and has used authentic Volvo parts, as well as checking with local reliable mechanic when he needed to.

Driven about 90 miles since taking ownership and have knowticed the automatic tranny shifts hard when accelerating slowly from first to second gear. half the miles are highway, and other are city from my use thus far.

When I accelerate faster the hard shifting is not as noticable, but is still there. It also feels like it may be shifting hard from reverse for first. I do come to a complete stop before I shift, but am worried about this. Checked the Tranny fluid and it actually looked a little high, but the previous owner is out of town for awhile so he cant be reached for questioning.

Any ideas?

THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!
