"Pitted" Head? 700 90

Hello,

I noticed a coolant leak from the head gasket, but got the car into a

shop before it overheated. Shop got the head off, and today told me

it's "pitted" in three places and that it needs to be welded/rebuilt. All told, the job that was going to be $500-$600 (to do the head gasket) is now going to be $1145. They told me a replacement motor would be at least $2500.

The car has 125K miles on it. What do the knowledgable people here think the best course of action is for this situation. The car's been pretty well maintained otherwise. Can I expect a B230F to go 200,000 without other major problems?

Thanks for reading,

Jay R.
