What's this thing in my breather hose? 700 1991

My breather hose (the large diameter one) that comes out of the flame trap "t" junction and goes into the large air intake hose has at the point where the breather hose meets the intake hose a "thing" or something that has an electrical plug on it. The device is plugged into the cable harness and it's wires are bundled with the AMM wires. Is this a sensor for something in the breather system (vacuum maybe) or is it some type of valve that regulates the flow of oil vapors or engine air in/out of the breather system? In short what is this thing?
