Make AC more efficient?? 900 93

My first R 134 car. 940 T, and it is sweet.

Recently noticed on some of the new GM vehicles that they are wraping the AC lines in a foil insulator-protector.

Would this help preserve some cool or other cars? I am sure the stuff is available aftermarket.

The car cools quite well, but I really believe my old R 12 systems do a bit better.

Any experiences? Also heard about a variable orifice device that a lot of retro folks are using.

Thanks,

dick
