Rear end rattling sounds '89 245 200 1989

I have an '89 245 manual with 170,000 miles. I am planning to get the Boge TurboGas shocks installed soon as my brick drives like a paint shaker. I am trying to identify why I get a bumping/vibtation sound when going over the slightest bumps. Here's what I've tried so far (with no imoprovements thus far):

Installed new Michelin Rainforce MX4 185R14's

Tested vehicle with the spare tire and jack removed

Stuffed rags around the tailgate to rule out the likelyhood it was making sounds

Flipped the rear seat forward out of its seat locks

The garage who I bought it from said the bushings were fine and that the sound could be shock related...

When I crawled under, I did not see any evidence of broken or worn bushings

Any advice from experieinced brickster out there?!
