Ac instalation, 200 1980

Hello all: I'm a bit new to 240 world, but I need to install ac into my 1980 242gt 337,000 on the original clutch and head. I want it to look stock or close to it, Should I go to "U-pull it" places and get all the OEM used stuff and pray it works? Or should I go new stuff at huge costs. I''m fairly sure that most cars wern't taken off the road cause the ac didn't work, but then again ...how many beaters have working ac?
