tune up 200 1990

OK, Let's say I could put my 6 month old son down long enough to tune up my 1990 DL / 214 k. I understood the CPU makes timing adjustments constantly so it is not necessary for me to set the timing.

I have newer spark plugs gaped @ what ever is recomended ( 0.28 ) and have a newer ail filter.

I top off the lube in the rear end.

What else can I do

I change my oil every 5k on the basis of a CONSUMER REPORTS MAG that did a study and found no ware on the internal parts of the engin after 100k of use in New York City Cabs.

I was getting about 28 mpg untill I had to open up my gas tank to repair the sending unit. Since then the MPG has not been as good. Tolorable but not back to the 28+ I had been use to.

I have been using 87 octane. I have been getting a 2-3-2 fault code that I believe may have come from a dirty contact and was corrected ( ? ).

I am open to Suggestions.

Thanks in advance.
