heater fan replacement 900

The fan in my 960 is making an awful noise. Typical, the first hot spell in the UK for 700 years and i cant use my air con.

It looks as though the fan is reached from inside. I have removed the plastic cover below the glove box and i can see a plastic assembly which the noise is coming from but from there it looks like a large chunk of the dash needs to be removed to get this assembly out. Am i missing something. Is there an easy way to do this? Is the fan replaceable or am i looking at a large assembly with a sealed unit?

Any help much appreciated.

Graeme
