ECC failure (AC) 700 1994

My 960 wagon had problems (similar to other posts) regarding no AC or all vents diverted to floor/defrost. This was intermitant. Dealer finally diagnosed as a faulty ECC (under warranty, thank God!!). According to dealer, this part has been discontinued from production by Volvo and replacements are unavailable.. Dealer found a "repackaged" unit at another dealer and installed.

System now works better than before, but still has intermitant problems...

If engine is turned off with AC left turned on, and restarted with AC turned on, the AC only blows to the floor/defrost for 5-10 minutes, then usually reverts back to the main vents.

Sometimes, it even has problems when all AC is turned off before turning off engine...

Are my problems ECC related or is there something else I can check???
