Very frustrating no start mystery problem. 200 1979

Thanks for all the previous help I've gotten bbut I'm still siting here with a motionless 1979, 245.

It began with a mistake. I installed an instrument cluster with a tach ans like an idiot, for some unknown reason, I spliced the tach wire to the distributors green wire. I still don't know why I did that. Anyway......During the instalation I tested everything several times and everything was fine. I tested a final time and again everything was fine even the tach. I pushed the cluster into place, screwed on the trim and went to take the car for a ride. It wouldn't start and still won'

t start. It did backfire a little at first but now it turns and turns, A friend held the coil wire to the head and sais there was no spark.

I've disconected the tach, replaced the distributor cap, replaced the control unit, replaced the resistor below the coil and even replaced the coil. To the best of my knowlege all the extra parts I've used are fine. I checked and double checked the fuses and even cleaned the fuse holders. Still, it's aparently not getting spark. Any ideas? I'm really tryihng to avoid a mechanic since it is an electrical problem and I suspect the hours will add up. I'm also worried because there was some cobb jobbing done before aI got the car, nothing visibly related to the ignition but ya never know. I usually never get into wiring aside from stereos but I thought the tach would be an easy project. I had no idea one mistake would lead to this.
