Blower motor hint 700 1989

I bought an '89 744T a couple of weeks ago. One of it's more annoying problems was the blower motor made a grinding noise and barely blew any air. I read the FAQs here, and figured this would be about $100 in parts via ipd or other online Volvo shops. My '89 had the 5 hole mounting style. Out of curiosity I tried Advance Auto Parts web site - I think it's advanceautoparts.com. There happens to be an Advance store a couple miles away from me. It showed one for ~ $19 and in stock locally. I figured this was probably the wrong part, but I'd take a look, because $19 for the part locally was probably close to the shipping cost alone, for ordering one online, let alone the cost of the item. I checked it out at the store, and the part looked perfect and even had a new squirrel cage (the fan itself). They claimed it was a rebult unit, but I swear it looked brand new. It even carried a lifetime warranty. I bought it, and it rung up at $15.99. I didn't make a peep. It installed perfectly and fit exactly correctly. It runs quietly and blows plenty of air. I've only used it for about 1 week, but so far so good. I'm going to be sure to hang on to the warranty slip because I know these are frequent service items on 700s. I'm also working on better drainage under the cowling (this is what killed the blower for the PO). Anyway, I hope this helps someone. A $16 solution for a $100 problem helped me.
