Speedo connection anyone????

I had previously posted a problem I had after the installation of a new cluster assembly. All the gauges work fine and so do the bottom row of service lights. The top two illumination lights as well as the accessory clock lighting and the instrument panel lights have gone out. They did work very briefly up until I was half-way into pushing the cluster into the dash and then they died (smell of burnt wiring). Yesterday, thinking I had solved the problem, installed the old cluster to see if it would work. Sure enough, a white cloud of smoke filled the air once again (it was coming from the right illumination light socket). I then installed the new cluster (no smoke!!), but still with no power to the above mentioned lights.

Any tips, ideas??? A wiring diagram may also help me in identifying some of the wires the PO seemed to have left hanging around.

By the way, I have a k9800 type cluster.

Thanks...........Ismael Carranza (86 Wagon)
