OBD for transmission 900 92

Forgive me if this is a FAQ, but I couldn't find it.

Can anyone tell me how to check the OBD codes for the automatic tranny on my 1992 965? I think someone mentioned that you put the probe in slot 1 instead of slot 2, but that's all I've seen recently.
