motor mount questions 200 83

My engine shakes noticeably at idle..... Is it true that it could be a symptom of bad motor mounts? I don't notice excessive shaking while driving...... I understand that bad motor mounts are usually either inflated or smooshed, and good ones should look like hockey pucks. My sweetheart informed me that MY motor mounts look like puffy donuts.

So, If I do need new mounts, I am wondering if OEM is a good place to get them - There's about a 50/50 chance that I'll have a shop do the work so I figure I'd buy the engine/ tranny mounts myself, (they're each about 8 or 9 bucks from OEM) and have a shop install them, unless the parts are priced comparably from the shop too.

Also, is this job suitable for a beginner to do, as long as I'm clear on the procedure? I know I'd need a jack, not sure if any other special tools needed....

Any info available is appreciated.

P.S. - I re-sealed my leaky windshield this weekend using silicone - worked great - it leaks no more :)
