Re: engine trouble; what is wrong with my car? 200 1990

Peter:

My daughter's '90 244 (with most of the same goodies as yours ) was experiencing some of these same symptoms. After ensuring that there were no vacuum leaks, that the throttle body was clean and the throttle position switch was making a definite audible "click" when the throttle was closed, I removed and serviced the idle air control motor according to the approved Don Foster technique (check the archives), cleaning it out using carb cleaner while cycling it with a 12V power supply, then oiling it with a few drops of clean motor oil on the commutator shaft. No more complaints from daughter.
