Not necessarily a MAJOR problem.......but you'll need a good book and some diagnostic skills.

Depending on how fuel gets to your combustion chamber...K-jet I assume??? You have a too much it situation.........so either you injection system that is all messed up (get out the Volvo or Bosch book) or you simply have a bad control pressure regulator diaphragm that is allowing fuel to be sucked straight into the engine......
