towing and suspension 700 1989

We have a 1989 740 gl wagon with the B230F engine and the AI 71 tranny. We are thinking of purchasing a small tent trailer for family camping are wondering what thoughts are out there concerning towing. I don't think the car has an auxiliary transmission cooler but from reading the owners' manual it looks as if this is only recommended for trailers over 2000 lbs. The trailer weight that we're thinking of is less than 2000 lbs.

Since we have 219,000 miles on this car, and some rear suspension repairs are needed, I'm looking for recommendations concerning the springs and shocks, along with bushings, etc. before purchasing a trailer.
