Steering wheel shimmy, clunk when almost lock to lock 200 82Ti

Howdy everyone

hows life?

Pretty good here, the transmission fluid change last night only took 2 hours. Not bad for first time changing it and not lifting the car up!

Anyways, to the crux of the post.

I have a shimmy in the steering wheel, at all speeds. It does not seem speed dependant, I had my tires balanced and rotated before heading to friend's (john laughlin) over the summer to work on volvo projects!

The shimmy seemed worse after the balancing and rotation, but then it died down some. it is still present at all speeds.

hard to tell if it shimmying occurs when I corner.

I flushed the power steering fluid about 1 year ago, being the amateur, I think the steering wheel was turned too fast, and aeration might have occured. Would this have damaged the rack, lines, pump etc?

I left the cap off the reservoir for a while and cycled a bit more to get the air out of the lines.

Could this damage cause the symptoms of shimmy and clunk exhibited?

The clunk happens when I turn the wheel almost or lock to lock and begin to back out, turn sharp out of parking spot. It clunks, the wheels dont seem like they want to roll as easy, it is felt through the steering wheel and body.

This clunk does not happen on gravel, which is what my driveway is. I notice it most at school.

john suggested upper strut bearing, or rack.

thought, suggestions always appreciated.

thanks

take care
