Dont worry ! 700 1985

My Volvo -79 B230 now 12 years and 250.000 km has ben ticking for the past five years and getting louder. Never opened the rocker cover or even had the car maintenanced by a service garage. Have done the simplest service my self as oil change, cam belt, brake pads etc. Haven't replaced the fuel filter still but now the fuel pump makes a sound when the tank is less than half full so it might be about time. Doesn't take any oil but gas milage's gettig a little thoughtful. How come your's just 100.000 and a 1985??

Wouldn't worry too much about the ticking sound as of me the car runs fine despite the alarming sound. I'll run it untill it stops or brakes down and then just replace the engine. I'v saved about $5000 not taking it to the service stations on recommended maintenace control schedule and that's not what a new engine cost. Crazy isn't it?? A used is less than $1000. Volvo cars are just unbelievable I hope to get another 100.000 out of the engine before it say's good bye. This might sound a bit crazy to all of you maintenace freeks out there but who cares?
