Dash repair and transmission leaks 200 1983

My 242 Turbo (w/auto) is leaking transmission fluid. I took it to my local Volvo mechanic and he confirmed my fears. To repair requires transmission removal. Since I have a laundry list of things to work on over the next 6 months, he recommended I try one of the transmission additives as a temporary fix until I can get to the transmission. Has anyone had any luck with these? He also troubleshooted my O/D problem to the solenoid. Is this a hard fix?

I also managed to pull a complete dash from a junker with two small cracks (maybe an inch in length each) in it. It is ten times better than my current one, but is there some type of repair I can do to fix these.

Thanks,

Mark
