Dimples on rear discs/rotors!!!!What functions? 700 90

Got 2 new rear ATE(TEVES) discs from fcpGRoton.Changed out 11 yrs old original Volvo discs.Right rear disc has 2 dimples on the hub/cylinder part of the rotor.Left(driver's side) has one dimple.Dimple approx 25c size andshallow, does not show on inside of rotor.

New rotors does not have this. What is the use of these dimples.Seems like an unlikely way to balance rotors to me???

thank you for any elucidation.

Tom
