Gear Lever Bushes replacement - How? 200 1981

My 244GL gear level is having a lot of free play. When idling you can see the level moving up and down, left and right.

My mechanic confirmed the bushes, one white and one black, need to be replaced

Question: Is it difficult to change these bushes? Where are they located? What are the procedures (step by step, better with illustrations or sketches of the parts or location)

I referred to the Haynes manual but there was no mention of changing bushes of this kind.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for the help, past, present, and future.

Laozong
