whats the normal idle speed? 200 88

what is an average idle speed of a B230F in an 88 240 DL

mine was 350 rpm or so, worked fine, fixed my a/c recently and found that it would sometimes stall the motor when i let off the gas... i raised it, so now it fixed that problem, and is around 400 or 500 with the a/c on.

However when i turn the a/c off the idle can reach 800-1000 depending on the weather and how nice the car feels like being... the engine sounds like a healthy idle at 500 rpm, but i cant get under the hood to adjust my idle everytime i click the a/c on and off!

so is it ok to be idling at 800 or so? am i wasting fuel or hurting anything?
