window crank and dash '88

how do i remove the window crank mechinism?? i've began pulling one out and have hit a stopping point. i've removed the holding bolts, handle and the clips that holds the scissor-lift unit to the window. i've disconnected the clip and pieces on the left connection at the window and have removed the clip to the right connection (this is on the drivers door), but the bars/pieces will not seperate. any ideas on how to do this??

also, i need to remove the dash top cover. is this easy or am i getting into something that i may not want to do??

thanks.......
