after reading/using FAQ for 740: I replaced fuel pump relay which was orriginal. car still would not start so I put jumper in between #30 and #87/2: no noise at all from either pump. pulled leads to main pump under car and had wife start car w/good relay in place. got a reading on meter when cranking car of about 8 volts which rose to about 12volts after cranking stopped. I would ask someone out there these questions: WAS THAT VOLTAGE DROP? If thats a normal voltage attempting to start car : can I declare main fuel pump dead or did I miss something? IS THIS ABOUT NORMAL LIFE EXPECTANCY FOR MAIN PUMP? Would/should in-tank be replaced; DID THIS PUMP CONTRIBUTE TO THE EARLY DEMISE OF THE MAIN PUMP> THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.mark4volvos
