overdrive 240-260 1983

ICQ>

I have gone the normal route of replacing the wiring on my overdrive switch (wires were broken and bare), checked the relay, checked the 4th gear switch, and changed the transmission oil (and cleaned the strainer at the bottom of the overdrive unit (M46 transmission). The overdrive solinoid activates and the OD light goes on but the overdrive unit will only engage and stay engaged in very cold weather. It has been suggested that a seal must be leaking and that when it is cold the oil is thick enough that the seal doesn't leak. How big a job is this in terms of $ and/or time to fix? Any other suggestions of what I can do to fix this problem?
