Frequent battery change to safeguard alternator 740-760 90

ICQ>

Read in the Toronto Star newspaper that an alternator specialist suggest frequent change of battery to preserve the harder to replace/rebuild alternator?

Any comments welcome.

The original battery in my Volvo 740 GL died prematurely at age approx 2.

A weakling at only 450AH.Not nearly enough for our -20 deg.Celsius winters.

Since then used a Canadian Tire battery with 72 months guarantee without any problem whatsoever.Should I change this asymptomatic battery now?I dont have hydrometer and voltmeter.Besides modern battery are sealed and non-hydrometerable.

Thanks,Cheers,

Tom
