Re: Stalling after cold start 740-760 1986

ICQ>

Ted,

Thanks for the interest. The car always starts fine. I leaves the house with full power, and runs great for about 2 mins. Then there is a dramatic loss of power. If I give it full gas, it will backfire. There is a hill near my house, and if I carry enough speed, I do not have to pull over. I just baby the throttle and it slowly reduces speed. This only lasts 2-3 mins and back to full power for the rest of the day.

I have a B23F non turbo. I have replaced the flame trap, the fuel filter, the in tank fuel pump, plugs, used fuel injector cleaner and cleaned the throttle body. No luck so far. I feel it is probably a sensor, (O2 or Temp???) but don't want to just parts swap. If the car sits for over 2 hours on a cold day, it may do this again. The engine never dies completely, it just loses power. It always run fine cold for the first couple of mins.

Any help would be appreciated. This is a great running car otherwise. I have only owned the car for 9 months, and it has always done this. I bought it at an auction, so no word from previous owners. I have seen this problem posted by others, but never a resolution.

Thanks

JR
