This car is steering itself! 200 84

If you thought my dilemma with the strut insert "STILL clunking" was a big story.....

this car came with extremely "easy" steering. (202K miles, now 205K). I mean it is really sensitive to the driver's imput, and that's great.

Trouble is, it sort of wants to keep steering after I want it to stay aimed straight now.

It's not "wandering" as if it has a weak control arm bushing (mechanic said they look good).

But the steering just keeps turning side to side rapidly two of three time after I finish my tight turns, or, drive into a slight rut.

To test, I quickly steer back and forth between say, 10 and 2 o'clock. When I stop on 12 o'clock, the steering continues to take me back and forth several more times.

My '86 will not do this. It centers within one or two extra movements (one back and forth motion then to center)

I believe the steering rack is a rebuilt because it looked very clean when I got the car. However, the dust boots are showing some cracks (probably reused).

Ball joints and outter tie rods don't test out of spec.
