engine tapping noise 700 87

Hi all,

I run a 744 and recently had a used engine installed. There is a tapping noise in the engine. The bearings and oil pump were replaced at the time of the install. I had the lifters adjusted and they are all within recommended tollerances. Fuel injectors have been cleaned recently as well. The mechanic suggested that it might be a wrist pin and to drive it. If the noise gets worse he would suggest replacing the wrist pin.

What is your collective wisdom?

Cheers

Randy
