Loose transmission selector 700 1988

I've been working on my sister's automatic 740t, and whenever you shift, the whole selector base apparatus tries to move with the shifter; it's lose in it's mounting. I've taken off the cover panel and gear indicator to try and see if I can find the problem, but I can't seem to identify the mountings, and where the selector actually attaches to the chassis of the vehicle is hidden far beneath the surface. Any suggestions?
