Hey brickboard,

I have had several 240s in my time. I like to drive the late 70s early early 80s models. I usually drive one into the ground every 4yrs or so...

A friend told me about this site and it is really great to see people digin 240s. My 78 wagon recently failed inspection due to the rust in the floorboard. It is very bad so i am junking it out back in my volvo graveyard. I went looking recently for another 240 and some guy is selling a 79 volvo GT? Ive heard of them back in the late seventies but never payed any attention to them since they were new then and i couldnt afford a new 240 then either. So i went and checked it out and it was a 242 to me with a fancy interior. BFD! He told me he wanted 2000 for it. I started laughing. I would never pay more than 700 for a volvo and it better not have any rust. This guy could only tell me it had suspension upgrades and interior,etc. The rims are cool, but i have a 242 turbo that i have restored that looks just as good and is a hell of a lot faster. So I left laughing at this guy who has as far as iam concerned a 22yr old 242! The body and motor are all in good not great but dependable. Everything you would expect out of a 22yr old volvo. Well to make a long story short. I found a man who had an 79 245 wagon for sale for 400.00, no rust hardly, and needed a fuel pump and door that was dented. I immediately bought, had it towed and installed a fuel pump out of my parts and door from my junkers and am currently getting it painted for 150.00. What a deal, runs awesome!
