Slow car - possible clogged cat. Please help 200 1980

I bought a broke 1980 242 dl for a $100. I put a used head on it. The old head gasket had a 3/32" hole from the coolant passage to the cylinder. A lot of coolant had to go thru the exhaust. The engine is real slow to accelerate. In neutral and in gear it bogs way down under acceleration - sometimes it pops back thru the intake. It revs up fine when I apply the accelerator slowly. I think the cat may be clogged. Compression is on the low side of acceptable. Any ideas?
